Make Appointments with Your Advisors

Academic Advising appointments are scheduled through our STARS Appointment System at stars.wayne.edu. Log in using your Wayne State AccessID and new password.

1. Schedule an Appointment:

   • First, select "Schedule an Appointment".
   • Under "Department", choose "Appointment with my Assigned Advisor". This will direct you to your assigned Academic Advisor based on your major.

2. Your Academic Advisor will provide you with a Plan of Work or a signed printout from DegreeWorks. They will also inform you if any placement testing is required.

3. After meeting with your assigned Academic Advisor, use the same appointment system to meet with Denise Thomas or Jaime Lopez, the Veteran Academic Advisors. For this appointment, select "Other Advising (Honors, Veterans, Warrior Way Back)".

   • Denise and Jaime will assist you with any Veteran-related advising concerns.
   • They will accept your Plan of Work and a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility from the VA if you plan to use any VA Educational Benefits.

Returning Students

• Complete the Request for VA Certification Form.

New Students

If you are a new student:

1. Establish an eBenefits account and complete the Application for Veterans Educational Benefits.
2. Provide the office with Proof of Eligibility by submitting:
   • Certificate of Eligibility (all variations of the GI Bill®).
   • A signed Plan of Work form from your Program Academic Advisor.
   • Request for VA Certification Form.
   • Complete the WSU 3rd Party Tuition Agreement. Example: 3rd Party Agreement.

Transfer Students

If you are transferring:

1. Provide the office with Proof of Eligibility by submitting:
   • Certificate of Eligibility (all variations of the GI Bill®).
   • A signed Plan of Work form from your Program Academic Advisor.
   • Request for Change of Program or Place of Training.
   • Request for VA Certification Form.
   • Complete the WSU 3rd Party Tuition Agreement. Example: 3rd Party Agreement.
