Dual enrollment

WSU Students Eligible for VA Educational Benefits – Attending a Second Institution as a Guest

Students eligible for VA Educational Benefits who plan to attend a second institution as a guest student should note the following:

In general, VA Educational Benefits are provided for enrollment at one institution only. However, an exception applies when a student enrolls at a second institution as a guest. To continue receiving VA Educational Benefits, credits earned at the second institution must be applicable toward the degree program at the primary institution (the school that will grant the degree).

The primary institution (WSU) must verify to the Department of Veterans Affairs, through the Gadson Office of Military & Veterans Academic Excellence (Gadson OMVAE), that the credits from the guest institution will be accepted and applied toward the student’s degree program.

Important: Be sure to review the residency requirements for your program before completing the following steps.

To the Student:

  1. You must be a fully matriculated WSU student.
  2. Request a Parent Letter by scheduling an appointment with the Gadson OMVAE advisor through STARS. The OMVAE will generate the letter for you to submit to the VA School Certifying Official at the guest institution.
  3. Notify the VA School Certifying Official at the guest institution of your intention to be certified.
